Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-14

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Tagalingo, a language learning service operated by Tagalingo LLC ("Tagalingo", "we", "us") through our website and mobile applications (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Description of the Service

Tagalingo is a language-learning service available through our website and mobile applications. The Service may include structured lessons, vocabulary and grammar study tools, spaced-repetition review, pronunciation and audio features, progress tracking, custom study materials, and AI-assisted learning features.

Features may vary depending on your device, platform, subscription or purchase plan, location, and the current version of the Service. Tagalingo may add, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue features from time to time and does not guarantee that every feature will always be available on every platform.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Tagalingo. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Account

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete account information and to update it when necessary. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for activity that occurs through your account to the extent permitted by law.

You may not sell, rent, transfer, or share your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission or if your credentials may have been compromised.

License to use the service

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service and its content for your own personal, non-commercial learning, subject to these terms. You may not copy, redistribute, scrape, or use Tagalingo content to train machine learning systems without our written permission except where applicable law expressly permits it.

The restrictions in this section do not apply to the Wiktionary-derived dictionary content described under "Ownership of the Service." That content is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, and your rights to use, copy, and redistribute it are governed by that license rather than the limits above.

Ownership of the Service

Tagalingo and its licensors retain ownership of the Service, excluding User Content. This includes the application software, curriculum and lesson structure, exercises and explanations, vocabulary and grammar materials, assessments and drills, audio and pronunciation materials, illustrations and animations, characters and mascot designs, interfaces and graphics, databases and content organization, trademarks, logos, and branding.

Some Service content incorporates third-party material used under license rather than owned by Tagalingo. In particular, portions of our dictionary data are derived from Wiktionary and are used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) license; that material remains available under CC BY-SA, and our ownership claim does not extend to it. The same is true of native-speaker pronunciation recordings sourced from Lingua Libre and Wikimedia Commons, and the voice-converted clips made from them: they remain available under the CC BY-SA 4.0, CC BY 4.0, or CC0 license each recording was published under, and our ownership claim does not extend to them. Other third-party assets and software are credited, and individual recordings are named, on our Acknowledgements page.

Your license to use the Service does not transfer ownership of any part of the Service to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You may not use the Tagalingo name, logo, or branding without our permission.

AI-generated tutor responses are available for your personal, non-commercial learning use. Tagalingo does not promise that any AI response is unique, similar responses may be provided to other users, and we do not guarantee that an AI response qualifies for intellectual property protection.

User Content

"User Content" means content you submit, upload, import, record, or create through the Service. Examples include AI tutor messages, custom vocabulary, custom flashcards or study materials, written responses, feedback and comments, imported study materials, audio files, and voice recordings.

You retain any ownership rights you have in your User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant Tagalingo a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, host, store, reproduce, process, display, and transmit that content only as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide and operate the Service;
  • store and display the content to you;
  • generate requested responses, feedback, audio, or personalized experiences;
  • maintain conversation and learning history;
  • secure, troubleshoot, and support the Service;
  • investigate abuse or technical issues;
  • comply with law;
  • evaluate and improve the Service as described in the Privacy Policy.

This license allows processing by service providers acting on Tagalingo's behalf. It does not permit Tagalingo to sell your private User Content as standalone content or to use private submissions in advertising without your additional permission.

The license ends when the User Content is deleted from active systems, subject to limited retention for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and routine backup rotation.

You represent that:

  • you own your User Content or have permission to submit it;
  • the permitted processing of your User Content does not violate law or third-party rights;
  • your User Content does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or similar rights;
  • your User Content does not contain unlawful, abusive, or malicious material.

We may remove or restrict User Content that violates these terms or creates legal, security, or safety risk.

Copyright / DMCA

Tagalingo respects the intellectual-property rights of others and responds to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Send a copyright notice to our designated agent at support@tagalingo.app.

To be effective, a notice must include the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3): a physical or electronic signature; identification of the copyrighted work; identification and location of the allegedly infringing material; your contact information; a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.

After receiving a valid notice, we may remove or disable access to the identified material and, where appropriate, notify the user who posted it. We may terminate repeat infringers' access to the Service in appropriate circumstances.

If your material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may send our designated agent a counter-notice containing the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3), including your signature, the removed material and its former location, your contact information, a statement under penalty of perjury of your good-faith belief that the removal was mistaken, and your consent to the applicable federal court's jurisdiction. We may restore the material as permitted by law.

Feedback

Ideas, suggestions, recommendations, feature requests, corrections, and similar feedback about the Service may be used by Tagalingo without restriction or compensation. Do not submit feedback that you consider confidential or proprietary.

Private materials do not automatically become unrestricted feedback merely because they may help improve the Service. Private AI tutor conversations, voice recordings, custom vocabulary, imported study materials, and other private User Content are not treated as unrestricted feedback solely because they are submitted through the Service.

AI-Assisted Features

Tagalingo may use artificial intelligence to retrieve lesson materials, generate explanations, simulate conversations, provide feedback, and assist with language practice.

AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate, outdated, or inconsistent, and AI may misunderstand you. Use your own judgment and do not treat AI responses as authoritative.

AI features are educational and are not legal, medical, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice. Do not submit highly sensitive personal information, including passwords, financial-account information, government identification numbers, or health records.

As described in the Privacy Policy, your messages and conversation information may be processed, relevant lesson content may be processed, and personalized study-profile information may be included when personalization is enabled. Turning personalization off removes the study-profile context, but it does not prevent your tutor message and the data necessary to generate and deliver a response from being processed.

Automated or human review may occur where reasonably necessary to investigate technical problems, respond to support requests, evaluate quality, prevent abuse, or comply with law.

We may limit or suspend access to AI features for unlawful or harmful use, system attacks, prompt or system manipulation intended to extract protected content, excessive automated use, or other violations of these terms.

Acceptable Use

Tagalingo has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

You agree not to use the Service to do any of the following, except where applicable law expressly gives you the right to do so:

  • violate laws or third-party rights;
  • sell, rent, transfer, share, or resell accounts or access to the Service;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • harass, threaten, exploit, or abuse another person;
  • submit unlawful, defamatory, hateful, sexually exploitative, harmful, or malicious material;
  • submit malware, malicious code, or content designed to disrupt the Service;
  • disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure;
  • bypass subscriptions, access controls, rate limits, usage limits, or security systems;
  • access accounts, systems, networks, databases, admin tools, or other areas without authorization;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code except where law expressly permits it;
  • scrape, crawl, harvest, index, or bulk download content or data without written permission;
  • use unauthorized bots, scripts, automated accounts, or automated request tools;
  • perform vulnerability testing or penetration testing without written permission;
  • remove copyright, trademark, attribution, or proprietary notices;
  • reproduce, redistribute, publicly display, sublicense, or create derivative works from Service materials without permission;
  • use Tagalingo materials, data, or AI output to build, train, evaluate, or improve a competing product, model, dataset, or language-learning service without permission;
  • collect or misuse another user's personal information;
  • submit materials without the rights needed to do so;
  • abuse free access periods, refunds, promotions, payments, or purchase restoration;
  • use the Service in a way that exposes Tagalingo, users, or service providers to harm or liability.

We may investigate suspected violations and may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary.

Purchases, subscriptions, and billing

Some Tagalingo Premium offerings are automatically renewing subscriptions, while others may be offered as one-time purchases. The price, billing period, renewal status, and other material purchase terms will be shown to you before you complete a purchase.

Web purchases are completed through RevenueCat's web billing services and its payment partners. Purchases made through the iOS app are processed by Apple, and purchases made through the Android app are processed by Google. The seller or merchant of record, any applicable taxes, and the payment descriptor associated with a purchase will be identified during checkout or on the receipt provided for that transaction.

We do not directly collect or store your full payment-card information.

Automatically renewing subscriptions renew at the end of each billing period at the price disclosed to you, unless you cancel before the renewal date. You must manage or cancel your subscription through the platform or billing provider used to complete the purchase. Depending on where you subscribed, this may be Apple's subscription settings, Google Play, or a web subscription-management link provided through Tagalingo.

Cancellation prevents future renewals and ordinarily takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. You will generally retain access to Premium until that period ends.

Deleting your Tagalingo account or uninstalling the app does not automatically cancel an active subscription. You must separately cancel the subscription through the platform where it was purchased.

Except where required by applicable law, payments are non-refundable. Refund requests for purchases made through Apple or Google are handled under the applicable store's policies and procedures. For web purchases, contact us within 30 days if you believe you were charged in error, and we will review the request in good faith.

If a payment fails, is reversed, or is otherwise not successfully completed, we may suspend or remove access to the associated Premium features.

Prices and available plans may change. A price change will not affect an existing paid billing period and will apply to a renewing subscription only after any notice required by applicable law or the applicable billing platform.

Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA customers)

If you are a consumer in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the right to withdraw from a purchase of a digital subscription within 14 days of the purchase date, without giving a reason. To exercise this right, cancel within the 14-day window and request a refund: open Settings → Subscription, where customers in the EU/EEA will see a "Cancel & request refund (within 14 days)" option during the window, alongside the standard manage-subscription link. If you purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel and request a refund through that store. By starting to use the digital content immediately, you acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may end once the service has been fully performed.

Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, retain, disclose, and protect personal information. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these terms by reference, but it does not replace any separate consent required by law.

If these terms and the Privacy Policy conflict, the Privacy Policy controls for handling personal information and these terms control for other matters.

Third-Party Services

Tagalingo relies on third-party services for functions such as authentication, hosting, payment processing, subscription management, analytics, diagnostics, artificial intelligence, audio generation, notifications, and app distribution. Some third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies.

Except as required by law, Tagalingo does not control a third party's independent service, policies, or availability. The Service may also contain links to third-party websites or resources, and linking does not necessarily mean endorsement.

Apple App Store

If you downloaded Tagalingo from the Apple App Store, the following also applies. These terms are an agreement between you and Tagalingo, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the service or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app — including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, or claims that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the app must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

Service changes

We are continuously developing the Service and may add, change, or remove features over time. We will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce the functionality of a paid plan where reasonably practical or required by law or platform rules.

Suspension and Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account through available account settings.

We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe that:

  • you materially violated these terms;
  • your activity creates a security, legal, operational, or safety risk;
  • a payment failed, was reversed, or appears fraudulent;
  • suspension or termination is required by law or a platform provider;
  • you misused the Service or interfered with another user;
  • Tagalingo discontinues the Service or a substantial part of it.

We will provide notice where reasonably practical and legally permitted. We may act without advance notice where necessary for security, fraud, legal compliance, prevention of harm, or serious violations.

On termination, your license and right to access the Service end. Premium access may end immediately or at the end of the paid period depending on the reason for termination and applicable platform rules. Your data is handled under the Privacy Policy. Account deletion does not cancel a recurring purchase, and pre-termination charges and obligations remain in effect.

Provisions that by their nature should survive will continue, including ownership, retained User Content licenses, feedback, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law and dispute venue, and general terms.

Disclaimers

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tagalingo LLC and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or US $100, whichever is greater.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Tagalingo LLC harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising from these terms or the service will be the state or federal courts located in Washington.

General Terms

Entire agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy, checkout disclosures, and any applicable feature-, promotion-, purchase-, or platform-specific terms form the complete agreement between you and Tagalingo regarding the Service.

Order of precedence. Additional terms control only for the specific feature, promotion, purchase, or platform they cover. The Privacy Policy controls for personal-information handling. These terms control otherwise.

Assignment. You may not assign these terms without our written permission. Tagalingo may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, asset sale, affiliate transfer, or transfer of the Service.

Severability. If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent and the remainder of these terms will remain effective.

No waiver. Failure to enforce a term does not waive later enforcement. A waiver must be in writing and signed by the waiving party.

Force majeure. Tagalingo is not responsible for delay or failure caused by matters beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, internet or telecommunications outages, labor disputes, war or civil unrest, government actions, power failures, cybersecurity incidents, or failures of third-party platforms. This does not excuse obligations that applicable consumer law does not allow us to avoid.

No agency. These terms do not create an employment, partnership, joint venture, agency, franchise, or fiduciary relationship.

Third-party beneficiaries. There are no third-party beneficiaries of these terms except Apple and its subsidiaries where expressly stated in the Apple App Store section.

Notices. Tagalingo may send notices through the Service, by email to your account address, or through a posted website notice where appropriate. You may send legal questions or notices to support@tagalingo.app, or by mail to Tagalingo LLC, 118 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102.

Headings. Headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
